Overwhelmingly approved by our product testing panel, the 26 books in this series are sure to entertain and educate children of all ages. With one book for every letter of the alphabet you can't miss with any of the scientific topics. Each illustration is vibrant and interesting and the unique narrative uses alliteration to teach children about all types of science. Each book even includes follow-up experiments to enhance the lessons taught. Whether you know a budding botanist or a curious chemist, there is a Quirkle for every kid. From A to Z the Quirkles are sure to please!
—Steve Spangler Science
I like the Quirkle books. I think it was a brielient (brilliant) idea to make the books you make. I wish I had the books….I liked the science experements (experiments). From your number 1 fan!
–Josh, Student, Wanda Gray Elementary–Springfield, MO
The Quirkles® science lessons give my students a “hands on” experience of key vocabulary words and scientific concepts using phonics, colorful story lines, and fun experiments. Each story also has a social skill lesson weaved into the story line through 26 positive engaging characters. The illustrations and colors in the stories spark their creativity when coloring the Black Line Masters when I first introduce the characters. One of my students asks for copies to color for each member of his family to take home for a night of coloring and talking to them about the Quirkles.
Parents acknowledge this transfer of knowledge, vocabulary, and scientific concepts in their homes and in other contexts. One father said to me in exasperation “he even knows what it means.” My students talk often to their families about the characters and science experiments that are learned in my classroom. This enhances their learning in many subject areas at school and home.
At my last yearly assessment by my administrator I was observed teaching a Quirkles science lesson. The children were engaged, excited, and fully participating. One of my Cerebral Palsy students was literally squealing with delight at the science experiment results that day. The students got it and fully understood the concepts being taught. My administrator was pleased and astonished by the reactions and excitement of my students about the Quirkles®. Additionally, I received the best assessment score in my professional career thus far and my 5th graders did exceptionally well on their state science test taken in the spring. This was a win-win bonus and acknowledgement for all of us!
My students are motivated and passionate about the Quirkles®. They look at the poster with the various characters and request which one that they would like to learn next. Their excitement is contagious and they can not wait to learn about another character and science concept. My class consists of students in all grades of elementary school. The Quirkles® has helped me to meet my students’ individual science needs and enrich their scientific knowledge as a whole class also. The Quirkles® have a truly unique and exciting way of teaching student’s using hands on activities through fun-filled literacy, phonics, and real life science. Thank you for fostering my students' love of science in the classroom and home through the Quirkles®.
—Susan, Royse City, Texas
I am impressed with my young scientists' absorption into the world of The Quirkles. They love the unity of alliteration, science, vivid colors and story. We enjoy practicing our questioning, hypothesizing, experimenting and concluding. The sample activities are easy-to-follow and are kid-friendly while supporting fabulous concepts. By the middle of the series, the students are independently hypothesizing the name of the next Quirkle and the science that may accompany that character using the alliteration trick. Thank you so much for putting this "out there." My students and I LOVE it!
—Jennifer, Kindergarten teacher, St. Louis, MO
I wanted to tell you how much the Quirkles have meant to us in China. My kids love the books and we constantly come back to read them again and again.
—Philip, Parent, Dalian, China
I would like to say THANK YOU! I have never seen a curriculum capture the true essence of learning like the Quirkles. My first graders eat, sleep and breathe the Quirkles!
—Mandy, First Grade teacher, Siebolt, Texas
You all do not know the following you have with students. Even the third and fourth graders constantly want to know what Quirkle I am doing that week for the younger students. Thanks again for all you do to promote science, creativity, and most of all, inquisitiveness, in children today!
—Pam, Gifted teacher, West Plains, MO
I went to a 4's classroom to do some experiments with them. I had one of the boys come up when I did the water gel experiment (tipping the cup over on his head). He was a great sport and the kids loved it. It turns out, when I took my son to a birthday party later that week, the mom said I had called her younger son up for the experiment. She said he was very shy and never talked much. She said once he got in the car, though, all he talked about was the science projects I had done!
—Pam, Pre-K teacher, Prosper, TX
This is the cutest educational program I have seen in a long time if ever.
—Susan, Elementary teacher, Aurora, CO
Last night, my six year-old daughter came out while I was on the computer and asked me to read her a story before bedtime. I told her to pick out a picture book from the stacks by the desk. (Mind you, I have about two hundred picture books stacked there, to be either read, blogged on, or mailed off). From all of these, she chose the two Quirkles books which I recently offered as a giveaway! She said, "I love these!" It seems Mommy had read one to her a week previous. So science and phonics aside, these books work on the "awesome picture book" level, and that's a big compliment to you! ... If my daughter hadn't responded so instinctively and enthusiastically to your books, I would not have taken the time to send off this note. So you guys are doing something right!
—Keith, New Jersey educator/consultant
The Quirkles are a wonderful introduction/literature connection to science standards I must cover. Since I have 3rd, 4th,and 5th grade students that are basically two to three levels below grade level in reading in a resource room, the books provide a great "short but sweet" way to cover many standards during the year. I can read the books to the kids, using prediction, inferencing and cause/effect questioning that regular text books at their level cannot provide to them. They love the characters, REMEMBER the concepts, and are able to build knowledge as we work through the Quirkles® based on a sequence of topics rather than by alphabetical order. The stories themselves lend to Inquiry based teaching as I will often stop midway through and let the kids investigate with materials to see what solution the Quirkle will have. They are thrilled to see when they have the same outcome as the characters! Can you tell I love the books??!...Not only do I love the content, but I love the artistic nature of the characters. This "storytelling" method is exactly how I present a lot of what I teach!
—Lisa, Huber Heights, Ohio
I teach 18 wonderful kids down at Hollister, just southwest of Branson. We are an elementary with approximately an 80% free and reduced lunch and overwhelmingly transient student population..We are a Character First school, which besides academic achievement of course, character development is a primary goal. This is my very first year teaching; I was one of those crazy career change 40-something women and went into education after nearly 20 years in the printing and publishing industry. I love it and I love them. Why didn't I do this ten years ago? Anyway, enough about me. . .I first discovered the Quirkles® on the shelf at Gold Minds in Springfield as I was shopping for initial classroom supplies. I stood in front of the display and read virtually every book A-Z. I ended up purchasing X.E. Ecology due to my commitment to our environment. I'm sure I was in the same spot for close to an hour; the sales clerk kept coming by and giving me a 'look!” I'll admit I'm a science geek; have been for years. If I could be an elementary science teacher, I'd be in hog heaven, but that unfortunately doesn't exist. It's my belief that kids are experiential; they learn hands-on — not by some worksheet printed off the internet. It's my passion to teach our youngsters about the environment, nature, our bodies, animals, how/why things work, and what happens 'if.’ That is why when I first discovered your collection, I was so excited to see that all these wonderful things could be taught to kiddos as young as kindergarten and first grade in a way they'd be both entertained and engaged.
—Julia, Hollister MO
We are still doing the Quirkles [mentoring] program and we are just getting it up and running for this school year. I have 22 Lab Chicks traveling to 22 classrooms within our school district at seven different elementary schools. We are visiting kindergarten and first grade classrooms. The students leave school during ELO (a kind of study hall) and travel with a partner to their assigned classroom to read one of the Quirkles® books and do a lab activity. We go to each classroom once a month.
—Nikki, High School Science Teacher, Salina South High School, Salina, KS
Thank you for getting our order processed so quickly! We are excited about using the Quirkles in our school!
—Renee, Second Grade Teacher, Ada Oklahoma
I first met you at your first appearance at Frog Street. I talked to you and your sister about using the books in my program. This has been a big success. I teach three year olds through 2nd graders at a private school. I am the only science teacher. In my presentation called Open My Eyes I do a lot of hands on science and tie in literature and rhymes and more. I used several of your stories this time--Ollie Oxygen, Vinnie Volcano, Timothy Tornado. I showed the teachers how I do re-enforcement with Scientist of the Week and sent Gilbert Gas and Colorful Caroline home in a science bag with lab coat, goggles, and supplies to do the experiments with the books. This was well received by the parents and I shared pictures and journals the kids kept.
—Debbie, Humble, TX
Sherry and Terri, THANK YOU so much for coming to visit us and for doing such an AWESOME presentation!! The kids have talked about it every day since you came, and many are still wearing their color changing necklaces!! I hope the pictures come through!! We would love to have you back again next year!! We read your email to the kids, they were VERY proud of themselves. Thank you for mentioning their good behavior, they have been working VERY hard on that!! And....SCIENCE ROCKS!! (that's what we hear now ALL THE TIME!!)
Thank you again!!

This series is an awesome way to teach PK students science concepts. My kids love it!!!!
—Kris, Pre-K Teacher, Ft. Hood, TX
The fascination people have with "The Quirkles" extends from the imaginative to the scientific,
from fanciful to factual, from dreaming of possibilities to actually planning and exploring
changes and advances in literacy and science. By providing differentiated curriculum and
personalized support, gifted students will have the opportunity to achieve district goals (CSIP Goals 6.4 & 6.7 and address the need to improve math, science, and literacy (MAP scores) at the level commensurate with their talent. They will be challenged to apply their knowledge and skills in complex and advanced ways, so that they can continue to develop academically. If provided with the challenge and support that is needed, these students will become highly productive citizens who will contribute to the well being of the broader community.
—Kathy, Gifted Teacher, Gainesville, MO
I have introduced the Quirkles to our preschool and it has been very successful. Kids and parents love it. Thanks for filling this need!
—Maureen, Los Alamos, NM
I am submitting a grant in high hopes to get this funded. I love science and the way our district is changing things science is going on the side burner....but, with this program I can teach the wonderful world of science AND get in all the literacy components.
—Deborah, Guthrie OK
I recently attended a workshop presented by Jason Lindsey, Hooked on Science. I was highly impressed with your set of science ABC books. I have been teaching for 13 years. My passion is turning kids onto math and science at an early age. I truly believe that this will improve our future and instill success for the students. I recently was named the Presidential Award winner for Excellence in Math/Science Teaching for Kentucky. I am starting a Mad Scientist Club at our small, rural elementary school hoping to give all kids the chance to get hooked on science, even
though we are located in the far Western portion of the state and not close to zoos, museums, or science centers. I would really like to incorporate the Quirkles alphabet books into this club.
—Keri, Science Educator, Sedalia, KY
This looks like SUCH a WONDERFUL series of books. I work at a VERY small private school for Dyslexia in Clearwater FL. We are a 501C3 so our funds are very limited, but I am going to show my Head of School your series. Hopefully we will be able to order some books…Congratulations on your AMAZING QUIRKLES!

—Alana, Ozark, MO
We recently got to see the authors in action with one of the Quirkles character books. I have a reluctant reader but this experience opened up a whole new avenue for him. He has gotten excited about reading as well as performing experiments afterward.
—Teresa, Parent, West Plains, MO
I am very familiar with the Quirkles series. I have used your books while teaching in the past. I love how this series combines a number of communication arts expectations (phonics, alliteration, main idea, etc.) with science and character education.
—Holly, First Grade teacher, Bolivar, MO
We love the Quirkles!
—Kerry, Gifted Teacher, Fouke, AR
I am a pre-service teacher and this seems wonderful. I'd prefer to teach science to Language Arts...I think this would give me a wonderful way to do both.
—Katrina, Downington, PA
From experience with these books at Ozark Elementary, I know what a difference the Quirkles can make in making science fun.
—Ryan, Second Grade Teacher, Strafford, MO
My students LOVE the Quirkles and would be interested in doing further activities. I was also
wondering if the company had considered stuffed Quirkles! I teach 1st grade and would purchase those in a heartbeat!!
—Sharley, Sunray Texas
The Quirkles are wonderful! I have an almost-5 year old son that loves science and I want to encourage his interest. He thinks that science is the “coolest thing ever” and he LOVES Jesse's hair!...Congratulations on a job well done!
—Teresita, Brooklyn, NY
I am a 2nd grade teacher looking for great literacy/science books. I came upon your books from a tweet to a blog and found them to be amazing…Thanks for a wonderful product.
—Andrew, Goshen, IN
I love this concept you have!! I am a homeschooling mom to three boys (ages 3 - 7) and I'm a Cub Scout Leader for ages 6 - 9. These books would tie in nicely with many of the projects we do and hit a great range of ages. I have a great love for science (having a Chemical Engineering degree myself) and really want to instill this in my boys, the earlier the better. :) Thanks for your time and also for what looks to be a fantastic curriculum. Looking forward to learning more from the Quirkles!!
—Becky, Homeschool Mom, Moulton, AL
I absolutely love the way you mix language and science ideas.
—Drendia, Perryville, AR
Thank you for coming to vist us and for teaching us that SCIENCE ROCKS!
—Sheri, Kindergarten Teacher, Springfield, MO
I am a doctor of pharmacy and it tom me until pharmacy school to understand how I learned new information (abstract concepts are very difficult for me.) But, I suffered through it. I saw your book advertisement and knew IMMEDIATELY that I had to get my 5 and 6 year olds a set. I think you hit the jackpot!! Thanks for saving my kids from the anguish I went through!
—Nicole, Trenton, MO
I’ve heard great things about Quirkles from other pre-k teachers that teach in other districts and look forward to having the opportunity to team them to my students in the future.
—Deanna, Killeen, TX
I have heard many wonderful things about your program…
—Mellissa, Chickasha, OK
Looking for a wonderful way to teach your young children science while teaching them their alphabet? I’ve got the books for you!!...The collection of books called Quirkles is a cute set of 26 books that will be fun to read over and over to your child, but they aren’t just a book, they are much more…Another fun thing with this book is that it isn’t just a story to learn the different subjects, but they have included twp different, easy and cheap experiments to do with your children so that they understand better what they have heard.
—Missouri Association of Teaching Christian Homes, Inc
The thing I find most fascinating about the Quirkles® is the versatility to age groups and it's no nonsense content. Quirkles will appeal to young preschoolers as well as high end elementary students because of the adaptability of the material.
—Keith, Homeschool Advisor Blog
We’ve been presenting sessions everywhere, and I have the greatest Quirkles’ story ever to tell you…[A second grade teacher in Dallas] had been using the Quirkles®…reading the stories early in the week and extending [the concepts] by allowing the students to be involved in their own experiments on Fridays for the first few weeks of school. Recently the school started pep rallies at the same time on Fridays, so this cut into the class time for Quirkles® science. As you can probably anticipate the ending of this story, the students revolted and didn’t want to go to the pep rallies! They wanted to stay in their classroom and do their Quirkles® experiments and read their science books!
—Sharon, Frog Street Press, Crandall, Texas
And even more importantly... What are the kids saying? :)
