To learn how to create holiday bath salts and to appreciate our amazing sense of smell
- Epson salt (available at most drug stores)
- Glycerin (available at most drug stores)
- Food coloring (optional)
- Large bowl
- Large spoon
- Scented oil (potpourri oil or cooking extracts work well)
- Measuring cup
- Small clear jars or decorative packaging materials
Pour two cups of Epsom salt and one teaspoon of glycerin in the bowl. Put a few drops of food coloring in the mixture. Choose your favorite scent to put in the salts. (Place one-half teaspoon of scented oil or extract in the salt.Use more if you want a stronger scent.) Mix together, and place in decorative container.
You have created scented bath salts that are good for both tired muscles and jangled nerves! Experiment with various scents. Research shows the scent of lavender is used for relaxing, peppermint or lemon for alertness, and citrus scents for refreshing.
